Job Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age by July 1 of the current year
- completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write
- some experience working with children or young adults in a recreational environment is highly desirable
- ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to frequently stand, walk on uneven ground, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- good communication and interpersonal skills

- Some experience in working with children or young adults in a recreational environment is highly desirable
- completion of formal or informal education sufficient to read and write at the level required for successful job performance
- ability to learn the principles and objectives of recreational activities
- ability to deal effectively with a variety of groups and individuals

Job Duties
- Assist in the planning, coordinating and conduct of recreation activities for children and young adults at parks, community centers, school fun centers and camps
- implement activities such as games, contests, arts and crafts, skits and sports
- ensure the set-up and safety of facilities for planned activities
- prepare rooms and set up and take down tables, chairs, and related equipment
- oversee the use of the facility ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
- ensure security of the facility at the end of the day
- report facility maintenance concerns and maintain adequate supplies and inventory
- assist in special events and other recreational activities
- assist in researching and preparing creative recreational activities
- assist in maintaining records of activities and preparing reports on programs, accidents, discipline problems and staff meetings
- disseminate program publicity as required
- attend meetings, training sessions, and conferences
- assist in making presentations and provide information regarding programs
