Job Description
The City of Palmdale is actively seeking multiple part-time and seasonal Program Leader I employees to join the dynamic team at DryTown Water Park, as part of its Parks and Recreation Department. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age by July 1 of the current year
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, sit and walk on uneven ground
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments subject to varying weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- Some experience working with children or young adults in a recreational environment is highly desirable
- Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to read and write at the level required for successful job performance
- Knowledge of basic methods, procedures and practices of recreational activities
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to learn principles and objectives of recreational activities
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of groups and individuals
Job Duties
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of recreation activities for children and young adults
- Implement activities such as games, contests, arts and crafts, skits and sports
- Ensure the setup and safety of facilities for planned activities
- Oversee the use of the facility and ensure patrons conform to established policies
- Report facility maintenance concerns and maintain adequate supplies and inventory
- Assist in special events and other recreational activities
- Assist in maintaining records of activities and preparing reports
