- Possess appropriate degree based on the academic subject area/field of instruction and applicable accreditation requirements
- Terminal degree required if responsible for graduate-level program
- Typically has teaching experience in higher education
- Experience in curriculum development and implementation and/or industry experience as required by accreditation standards
- Proven administrative and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills
- Strong computer literacy skills including LMS experience
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities

Job Duties
- Administer high-level academic support to ensure retention of students
- Provide support to students through advising and next level handling of student issues
- Provide oversight and answer questions relative to the evaluation of transcripts of transfer students
- Administer proficiency tests as appropriate
- Monitor faculty follow-up with students concerning absence, missing work and/or poor academic progress
- Assist with selection and hiring of faculty, orient, manage, train, and evaluate faculty
- Participate in collection of documentation required for faculty
- Evaluate instructor transcripts to assign credentialed instructors
- Observe instructors to ensure instruction quality
- Ensure faculty meet responsibilities regarding grading and attendance
- Manage faculty loading and class scheduling ensuring appropriate ratios
- Review and provide feedback on instructor performance and conduct periodic reviews
- Monitor faculty development needs and document outcomes
- Review student evaluations and share results with faculty
- Review and approve faculty professional development plans
- Teach classes for absent faculty as needed
- Lead program review and revision using student outcomes data
- Contribute to development of new programs
- Identify requirements to meet accreditation and licensure standards
- Participate in institutional effectiveness programs
- Develop course schedules for each term
- Ensure attendance is taken in every class
- Maintain documentation of student and instructor issues
- Manage department expenses within budget
- Maintain compliance with school, state, and accreditation policies
- Serve on campus and university-wide committees
- Assist with monitoring grading systems, lab equipment, textbooks, and classroom conditions
- Maintain membership in professional organizations and attend/speak at meetings
- Identify student participation opportunities in professional organizations and competitions
- Engage community leaders for student participation in service projects
- Participate in local corporate program management
- Maintain liaison with industry, accreditation, community, and government organizations
- Work with advisory boards
