About the Young Family Athletic Center and the Recreation Coordinator Role:

Job Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record
  • must have CPR and First Aid training
  • must receive training in First Aid, CPR, and other relevant issues
  • ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance
  • ability to lift and carry light supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs
  • ability to walk, stoop, stand, and climb as needed
  • ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
  • ability to use resourcefulness and tact with public contacts
  • be subject to disciplinary action under Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act as a safety sensitive job classification

Job Qualifications

  • Prefer four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Physical Education, Social Work or related field
  • certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) from NRPA
  • CPR and First Aid training
  • proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • proficient in RecTrac software
  • knowledge of programming and administration of recreation activities for aging adults
  • ability to develop, plan, and implement senior recreational programs and activities
  • oral and written communication skills
  • interpersonal skills to lead subordinates and resolve complaints

Job Duties

  • Assist supervisor in coordination of planning, programming and promoting the Young Family Athletic Center
  • open and close center, inspect for maintenance problems and arrange repairs
  • plan, promote, organize, coordinate, schedule, and supervise various recreation programs and activities including special tournaments, events, practices, and leagues
  • ensure equipment, materials, and supplies are available and provide set up for activities
  • keep supervisor aware of needed supplies and equipment
  • interpret and enforce departmental and center policies and safety rules
  • respond to questions and complaints from the public and investigate and resolve problems
  • prepare reports and maintain records and manuals
  • attend seminars and maintain knowledge of senior programming and wellness trends
  • recruit, hire, and train basketball event staff
  • oversee day-to-day facility operations and support aquatics department needs
  • oversee all leagues held in the gym including men’s and women’s basketball, pickleball, and the YFAC league
  • schedule facility rentals and set up for rentals
  • supervise events, coordinate gym setup and takedown, and manage spectator flow
  • perform other related duties as required
