Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven baking experience, especially in a production bakery environment
  • Ability to operate commercial baking equipment safely
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Willingness to relocate to Washington, DC area preferred
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks

  • Proficiency in baking techniques and methods, including knowledge of various ingredients
  • Experience in cake decorating with an eye for detail and creativity
  • Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations within the food industry
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Excellent time management skills to meet production deadlines
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
  • Experience with commercial baking equipment
  • Familiarity with SQF standards or other food safety certifications
  • Experience in a high-output, wholesale, or commissary bakery setting

Job Duties

  • Prepare and bake breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods according to daily production requirements
  • Follow standardized recipes, weights, and measurements to ensure consistency and quality
  • Operate mixers, ovens, proofers, dough sheeters, and other commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitor baking process and adjust as needed for proper texture, color, and bake
  • Organize and manage prep work to meet production schedules and deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, following all food safety and hygiene standards including SQF
  • Label, date, and store ingredients and finished products properly
  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking ingredient levels and reporting shortages
  • Communicate with team members and management regarding production needs or issues
  • Support special orders, seasonal items, and new product development as required
  • Ability to work weekends
