Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Microbiology or related field
- minimum 7 years of R&D experience in CPG food manufacturing industry
- minimum 3 years in a managerial role
- proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- knowledge of FDA and USDA labeling requirements
- understanding of quality systems and HACCP/HARPC plan
- strong communication and leadership skills
- experience with root cause analysis and problem solving
- ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently
- ability to travel occasionally for customer visits and industry events
- strong organizational and project management skills
- understanding of cost accounting and costing
- ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
Job Qualifications
- 7-10 years of R&D experience in CPG food manufacturing industry
- minimum 3+ years in a managerial role
- M.S. degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Microbiology or related area preferred
- strong understanding of CPG food manufacturing processes
- highly developed communication, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal and project management skills
- integrity, autonomy, creativity, self-motivation, problem solving skills including root cause analysis
- strong organizational skills including data analysis, R&D documentation and report creation
- working knowledge of quality systems and HACCP/HARPC plan
- understanding of cost accounting and costing
- knowledge of FDA and USDA labeling requirements
- understanding of nutrition and operation of Formulator or Genesis software
- proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- experience in operations and project management a plus
Job Duties
- Lead the team’s relentless focus on delivering innovative, unique, and value-added product offerings to customers
- develop strategic innovation and renovation roadmaps for products and processes
- research commercial potential of new food trends and facilitate early concept developments
- define, develop, plan, and manage R&D projects and product development initiatives
- oversee occasional travel for customer visits and industry events
- lead product development projects from concept to market launch working closely with cross-functional teams
- evaluate project feasibility and input for project and product costings
- research new raw materials, applications, processing technologies and equipment
- develop and manage external technical relationships with suppliers and innovation partners
- plan and conduct lab and pilot scale development work and tests
- lead and document projects from conceptualization to commercialization
- collaborate with plant processing and production personnel to ensure successful trial runs and start-up operations
- execute R&D strategies supporting company and team objectives
- implement new processes to improve production efficiency and create new business opportunities
- partner with business development, Innovation Chef, and Commercialization teams on new product innovation
- work collaboratively with global R&D team and Innovation Chef sharing innovations
- manage multiple complex projects concurrently prioritizing business initiatives
- participate in sales and product demonstration presentations as needed
- mentor and develop the team by providing clear priorities and timelines
- perform other duties as assigned by management
- take on additional responsibilities as necessary
