Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry
- 1 to 5 plus years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- ability to perform physically active laboratory tasks
- proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and data management systems
- strong understanding of protein purification techniques
- excellent communication skills
- willingness to work on-site
- ability to work well in a team
- capacity to work in a fast-paced laboratory setting
- experience with downstream development and pilot scale manufacturing
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry
- 1 to 5 plus years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- strong fundamental understanding of protein purification techniques
- experience with downstream development
- familiarity with tangential flow filters, normal flow filters, ultrafiltration/diafiltration skids, Akta chromatography systems, disc stack centrifuge, depth filtration, chromatographic columns, HPLC, UPLC, Empower, Unicorn, JMP, LIMS, and PI Historian
- experience with raman spectroscopy or software programming is a plus
- scientific curiosity and enthusiasm
- ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
- ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Job Duties
- Manage and organize data more independently
- execute experiments alone and in collaboration with others
- perform routine technical tasks and interpret data
- present results to supervisors
- execute experiments/projects using established procedures
- perform basic data entry and analysis
- recognize unexpected results
- read and understand scientific literature and technical documentation
- execute experimental plans to verify literature findings
- prepare comparison of internal data to literature
- train and become proficient in operations of job-relevant laboratory instrumentation and data systems
- assist in training new staff after demonstrating competency
- support technology development and improvement initiatives
- contribute to development of technology and automation to increase throughput and speed of pilot scale operations
- build relationships within subgroup to support shared goals
- train peers and assist co-op students/interns
- proactively assist others in execution of experiments
- know when to ask for help from peers
