Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass fingerprinting and background investigation
- No felony convictions or current court-ordered probation within the past year
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Must obtain San Bernardino County Food Handlers' Certificate within two weeks of hire
- Must obtain ServSafe certification within six months of hire
- Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and perform necessary kitchen duties
- Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Cannot require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future
Job Qualifications
- One year of full-time experience as an institutional cook in settings such as correctional facilities, hospitals, schools, military, hotels, or banquet halls
- Experience preparing large quantity meals serving 200 or more individuals
- Or two years of full-time cooking experience in fast food, restaurant, or similar environments including at least one year in a lead role
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to obtain San Bernardino County Food Handlers' Certificate within two weeks of employment
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within six months of employment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform standing, squatting, and reaching tasks
Job Duties
- Participate in and lead the preparation of daily meals in a juvenile detention facility
- Oversee and train food service personnel in meal preparation and serving
- Assist in the preparation of menus and daily purchasing reports
- Monitor daily and monthly meal counts and production usage to manage inventory
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including food handling certifications
- Serve meals and supervise the serving process to maintain order and quality
- Manage catered event food production and service
