Job Duties

  • Respond promptly to fire and medical emergency calls, providing medical treatment and life-saving interventions to sick or injured patients at the scene
  • Utilize radio, telephone, and dispatch communications to coordinate response activities
  • Assess emergency situations and evacuate persons from danger, making forcible entry into buildings as necessary
  • Administer appropriate medications and treatment protocols as per established guidelines, prioritizing patient well-being and safety
  • Perform routine cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of ambulance and firefighting vehicles, ensuring readiness for emergency deployment
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of medical equipment, promptly addressing any issues to uphold operational efficiency
  • Foster positive working relationships with hospital and emergency department staff, facilitating seamless transitions of patient care
  • Educate the community about EMS safety by responding to citizen inquiries, presenting tips to local organizations, and assisting with public tours of fire station
  • Uphold a positive public image by demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and compassion in all interactions with patients and community members
  • Utilize electronic medical recording systems to accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and interventions in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Provide detailed reports to hospital staff, updating them on patient condition, treatment provided, and relevant medical history for continuity of care
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned
