Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic license
- Current CPR certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday
- Willingness to undergo pre-hire testing
- No prior supervisory experience required
- No previous relevant work experience required
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Paramedic license
- Certification in CPR
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and compassion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate emergency medical equipment and vehicles safely
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a PRN or as-needed basis
Job Duties
- Respond promptly to fire and medical emergency calls, providing medical treatment and life-saving interventions to sick or injured patients at the scene
- Utilize radio, telephone, and dispatch communications to coordinate response activities
- Assess emergency situations and evacuate persons from danger, making forcible entry into buildings as necessary
- Administer appropriate medications and treatment protocols as per established guidelines, prioritizing patient well-being and safety
- Perform routine cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of ambulance and firefighting vehicles, ensuring readiness for emergency deployment
- Ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of medical equipment, promptly addressing any issues to uphold operational efficiency
- Foster positive working relationships with hospital and emergency department staff, facilitating seamless transitions of patient care
- Educate the community about EMS safety by responding to citizen inquiries, presenting tips to local organizations, and assisting with public tours of fire station
- Uphold a positive public image by demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and compassion in all interactions with patients and community members
- Utilize electronic medical recording systems (e.g., ESO) to accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and interventions in a timely and comprehensive manner
- Provide detailed reports to hospital staff, updating them on patient condition, treatment provided, and relevant medical history for continuity of care
- Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned
