Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • completion of a medical office assistant program preferred
  • two years of experience in customer service preferred
  • medical office experience preferred
  • ability to handle front office processes in an outpatient surgical center
  • strong customer service skills
  • proficiency in scheduling and insurance verification procedures

Job Duties

  • Greet patients entering the physician practice
  • answer office phones, schedule appointments, confirm appointments, and reschedule as necessary
  • check in patients, collect accurate patient demographics, enter data into the electronic system, and verify insurance information
  • assist in checking out patients, including processing referrals and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • collect co-pays and post charges
  • handle charge entry and patient balance processing
  • distribute information to patients regarding office policies, procedures, and general information about the practice
  • explain and enroll patients in the patient portal
  • perform additional responsibilities as needed
