Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • unpack and repack boxes during event setup and breakdown
  • weekend availability
  • ability to work both inside with air-conditioning and outside in heat and humidity
  • some walking, exercising and/or outside work leading programs or events involved

Job Qualifications

  • Two-year degree/training in art, recreation or related field
  • four-year degree preferred
  • one or more years' experience conducting group activities
  • knowledge of creative arts, humanities, world cultures and entertainment
  • ability to select and facilitate activities considering a person's abilities and interests
  • ability and willingness to regularly engage in a meaningful way with elderly (with or without dementia) in a respectful and positive manner
  • possess characteristics essential to care partners of the cognitively-impaired such as patience, compassion, flexibility, calm and reassuring manner, empathy, respect, motivating, encouraging
  • computer proficiency including Windows, PowerPoint, Excel and word processing applications
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • able to work well with others including staff, supervisor, residents, families, volunteers and the public

Job Duties

  • Lead and implement scheduled life enrichment activities that support residents' intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being
  • facilitate activities and events prepared by the Life Enrichment team, ensuring resident engagement and participation
  • assist with setup, cleanup, decorating, and providing supplies for scheduled events
  • support new resident orientation by helping residents participate in activities and adjust to daily routines
  • provide friendly, responsive customer service to residents, guests, and staff
  • address resident questions or concerns as needed
  • offer individualized support based on residents' unique strengths, preferences, and needs
  • encourage ongoing participation in programs and assist with motivating residents to engage socially and meaningfully
  • monitor daily activity execution and report feedback or concerns to the Life Enrichment Supervisor or Manager
  • maintain confidentiality of all resident, family, and facility information
  • collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments to support resident experiences
  • attend required in-service training and educational sessions
  • perform other duties as assigned
