Job Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Minimum two years as a cook in hotel, restaurant or banquet facility experience preferred
- Culinary program training preferred
- Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate such as Hawaii Health Card Permit or Liquor Commission Card Service Permit
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously for extended periods
- Knowledge of operation of kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, rice cookers
- Basic mathematical skills to understand recipes, measurements and portion sizes
- Ability to lift or move goods weighing up to 50 lbs on a continuous schedule
Job Qualifications
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position
- High school diploma
- Culinary program training preferred
- Minimum two years as a cook in hotel, restaurant or banquet facility experience preferred
- Ala Carte cooking experience preferred
- Experience working on the line and in a fast pace environment preferred
- Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate such as Hawaii Health Card Permit or Liquor Commission Card Service Permit
- CPR and/or First Aid training preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare all foods suitable for cooking according to standard recipes to ensure consistency of products to guests
- Visually inspect, select and use food items of the highest quality in preparation of all menu items
- Check and control proper storage of products and portion, e.g., high cost meat items
- Keep all refrigeration, storage and working areas clean, working condition to comply with Department of Health regulations
- Ensure all equipment in working areas is clean and in proper working condition
- Prepare requisition forms for supplies and maintain ordering of products and food items for production in workstation
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor
- Keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents
- Perform other duties as requested such as moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills etc. to ensure a safe work place
- Perform other duties assigned by Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Banquet/Sous Chef and Lead Cook
- Comply fully with Hotel and Golf Club rules and regulations for safe and efficient operation of facilities
