Job Duties
- maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
- maintain all department sanitation and quality assurance standards including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils and equipment
- check products received against an invoice
- use slicing machines and related equipment where applicable
- prepare and replenish product for sale in any department
- operate equipment with safeguards in place and in good condition
- comply with store rules, company policies, safety requirements, and all relevant health and civil code regulations
- dress according to company policy including uniform and name badge
- greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service
- follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, scaling, and restocking products to ensure quality and accuracy
- control freshness, quality and temperature of products
- operate cash register and follow cash handling procedures
- identify and scan product correctly, process payments and provide correct change
- handle damaged or return-to-stock products according to policy with priority on perishable items
- adhere to HAZCOM program and use chemicals safely
- check refrigeration equipment regularly and report issues
- remove trash and operate baler or compactor
- complete price changes and department training as directed
- retrieve carts from the parking lot
- perform other duties as required
