Job Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate forklifts and company vehicles safely
  • Ability to lift weights up to 32 kg without assistance
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Clear and courteous communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
  • Willingness to work variable shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Pass medical examination meeting Air Canada standards
  • Compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements
  • Adherence to company uniform and dress code
  • Punctual and reliable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to use company vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to lift loads up to 32 kg (70 lbs) without assistance
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods
  • Tact, judgment and strong initiative
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency, after training, in using the company’s automated freight and accounting systems
  • Adherence to Air Canada uniform and dress standards
  • Ability to meet Air Canada medical standards through medical examination
  • Compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements for customs seals and airport passes
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work shifts in a constant activity environment including mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays

Job Duties

  • Manage freight operations including building and breaking down pallets and unit load devices, loading and unloading trucks, and storing freight and COMAT in designated areas with proper documentation
  • Use company equipment such as forklifts and vehicles to move freight, mail, and COMAT efficiently and safely
  • Handle shipments including dangerous and restricted goods in compliance with company and governmental regulations
  • Provide customer service by responding to inquiries from the public, airline carriers, external agencies, and internal staff
  • Contribute to operational continuity by making decisions in the absence of leadership, communicating procedure updates, ensuring supply availability, and compiling statistical data
  • Investigate and report damaged or incomplete shipments and complete necessary documentation
