Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to regularly lift 5-10 pounds and up to 50 pounds as required
- Must frequently wash hands as per health regulations
- Ability to work in a high altitude environment (8,000-9,500 feet)
- Must have interpersonal skills to work with individuals with varied behaviors tactfully
- Ability to handle kitchen equipment safely
- Must be willing to obtain SERV Safe and First Aid/CPR certifications if not currently possessed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus one year certificate from college or technical school preferred
- Minimum three months food preparation and/or line cook experience preferred
- Must possess or be willing to obtain current SERV Safe Certification
- Must possess or be willing to obtain current First Aid/CPR certification
- Minimum three months experience in an industrial kitchen preferred
- Prior experience cooking and serving 50-310 people per day preferred
- Experience in meal preparation for restricted diets and food allergies highly preferred
- Proficient understanding of sanitation and workplace safety regulations
- Basic understanding of nutrition guidelines, food handling, preparation and cooking procedures
- Knowledge of food allergies and related diseases
- Ability to comply with food safety and temperature standards
- Understanding of safe use of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment
- Ability to interpret SDS sheets
- Ability to perform basic math operations for measurements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Teamwork skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness
Job Duties
- Assist Chef/Cook to prepare meals as scheduled for 50-310 people per meal
- Assist Chef/Cook to prepare all meals on time as scheduled or assigned
- Properly measure ingredients and assemble them according to Chef/Cook's specifications
- Wash, peel and prepare raw food products
- Cut and portion different types of meat
- Portion food and prepare dishes and ingredients for serving
- Breakdown workstation and complete closing duties
- Ensure leftover food is stored properly
- Work closely with Chef/Cook and Dishwasher throughout the shift and provide support as needed
- Test temperature of foods at specified intervals and perform daily temperature checks for coolers and products
- Clean, organize and maintain refrigerators, coolers, and dry storage areas
- Restock items as needed
- Keep track of ingredient quantities
- Ensure special food requirements for campers and staff with allergies, gluten-free and vegetarian diets are managed accurately
- Assist Chef/Cook in ensuring food items for staff on weekends
- Prepare and deliver timely and accurate pack-out/travel food
- Occasionally act as Chef/Cook as directed by Kitchen Manager
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and proper food preparation according to health department codes
- Maintain sanitation, health, cleanliness and safety standards
- Ensure CDPHE Food Regulations compliance by kitchen staff
- Regularly sanitize kitchen surfaces and assist in daily deep cleaning
- Wash hands frequently as per CDPHE health regulations
- Keep storage areas clean and ensure proper food rotation, labeling and storage
- Assist in checking incoming food supply orders
- Assist with unloading, inspection and storage of raw ingredients
- Assist in inventory requests
- Report accidents or injuries
- Manage timecards
- Interact with digital systems including WorkBright, Slack, and ADP
- Respect confidentiality of staff, volunteers and girls
- Live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law
- Perform other duties as assigned
