Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- ability to use hands for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of buying or merchandising experience
- extensive product knowledge including production, distribution, seasonality, advances, and trends
- ability to create and negotiate price bids
- familiarity or willingness to learn about products and nutritional information
- working knowledge of prepared foods merchandising expectations
- understanding of WFM margin program and profitability
- ability to educate team members on product knowledge
- strong basic math skills
- proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems
- strong communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively in a team
- ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully
- ability to meet customer service standards
- effective time management and organizational skills

Job Duties
- Purchases and replenishes food for preparation through proper buying procedures
- monitors and acts upon open purchase order reports for purchases and credits
- controls spoilage and shrink and participates in inventory
- completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
- assists with counter service and cooks as scheduled or necessary
- communicates with kitchen manager, chef, and team leader on ordering needs and issues
- maintains positive working relationship with vendors
- works with team leader or assistant team leaders to cost recipes
- oversees customer special order procedure
- supports leadership in conducting inventories
- maintains financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets
- arrives to workstation on time, appropriately groomed, and ready to work
- works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- provides excellent customer service and addresses customer needs in a timely and effective manner
- models suggestive selling techniques
- answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
- maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and ensures compliance with procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- maintains equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
