Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years related experience and/or training
  • Strong culinary skills
  • Commitment to food safety
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and train staff
  • Proficiency with relevant software
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including lifting

Job Qualifications

  • Two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong culinary skills including cooking large quantities and to order
  • Deep knowledge and commitment to kitchen safety
  • Knowledge of and passion for Prepared Foods and local seasonality
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors and farmers
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Flexible and willing to learn and take on new responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Assist with taking inventory and placing orders with approved suppliers
  • Assist in purchasing Prepared Foods following brand guidelines and marketing plan
  • Receive Prepared Food deliveries following established receiving procedures
  • Store and oversee the storage of products to ensure FIFO is followed and product safety is assured
  • Partner with the Prepared Foods Manager to follow weekly promotions and conduct price surveys
  • Support merchandising plans to create attractive Prepared Foods displays
  • Assist customers with product questions and special orders with a friendly manner
  • Maintain displays and storage areas meeting health department standards
  • Monitor and train staff on safety, sanitation, and accident prevention principles
  • Partner with the Prepared Foods Manager to manage damaged or spoiled products and markdowns
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts and department equipment maintenance
  • Lead staff training including culture, policies, and on-the-job procedures
  • Oversee probationary periods and staff evaluations
  • Assist with weekly payroll and respond to time-off requests
  • Inspire department staff to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Participate in department, store, and co-op leadership meetings
  • Abide by Co-op policies and maintain a positive attitude
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Prepared Foods and Store Managers
