Job Requirements

  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to cold (32 degrees Fahrenheit or below), refrigerator (32-40 degrees Fahrenheit), and hot (above 90 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • 12+ months retail experience
  • extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal, motivational, and team-building abilities
  • capable of teaching others positively and constructively
  • product knowledge
  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficiency in mathematical skills related to financial performance, profitability, and inventory management
  • decision-making ability and leadership skills
  • ability to prioritize and delegate
  • proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members to build and sustain a high-performance team
  • assists in training new Team Members using learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flow and needs and directs Team Members accordingly
  • responds promptly to customer needs and questions
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
  • provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
