Job Requirements
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to cold (32 degrees Fahrenheit or below), refrigerator (32-40 degrees Fahrenheit), and hot (above 90 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders
Job Qualifications
- 12+ months retail experience
- extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
- strong organizational and time management skills
- excellent interpersonal, motivational, and team-building abilities
- capable of teaching others positively and constructively
- product knowledge
- advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
- proficiency in mathematical skills related to financial performance, profitability, and inventory management
- decision-making ability and leadership skills
- ability to prioritize and delegate
- proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications
Job Duties
- Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
- works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members to build and sustain a high-performance team
- assists in training new Team Members using learning checklists and training materials
- keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
- opens and closes department according to established procedures
- ensures all necessary breaks are given
- communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
- sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
- fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
- maintains awareness of customer flow and needs and directs Team Members accordingly
- responds promptly to customer needs and questions
- selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
- provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
- consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
