Job Requirements

  • Completion of vocational school or two-year associate degree
  • At least one year of cooking experience
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check
  • Up to date SerSafe Food Handling Certification
  • Ability to work on feet for most of the day
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to work weekends and on-call shifts
  • Ability to follow health safety protocols including COVID testing and vaccine requirements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to EOCP's procedures and policies

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent kitchen knowledge and ability to work as part of a team
  • Valid California Driver's License and ability to pass a drug test and background check
  • COVID vaccination, booster shot, or willingness to receive both
  • Strong organization and active listening skills
  • Ability to work on feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Maintain positive attitude with residents, volunteers, and staff
  • Assist in training and coordination of volunteers under Food Service Manager's direction
  • Attend all required supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and trainings as required

Job Duties

  • Begin work wearing mask and chef jacket or chef shirt
  • Thoroughly read your daily task sent out in a text and respond when task is complete
  • Assist with stocking and setting up kitchen stations
  • Put away air dry pots and pans
  • Submit weekly COVID test until further notice
  • Take temperature upon arrival until further notice
  • Prepare food including cleaning and cutting ingredients
  • Complete daily cleaning schedule of appliances, food preparation, and storage items
  • Plate prepared foods based on senior cook guidance
  • Wash and clean the kitchen and cooking utensils and store the equipment at the end of shift
  • Organize donated food stock, regularly rotating using the FIFO system, and ensure that food items in freezers and refrigerators are covered and labeled appropriately
  • Ensure kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
  • Perform a thorough kitchen clean once a week
  • Work in a fast pace environment as a line cook
  • Be great at multi-tasking often handling several preparation tasks simultaneously
  • Assume 100 percent responsibility for quality of products served
  • Learn on the job and follow EOCP’s procedures, safety, and regulatory policies
  • Prepare a variety of foods using ovens, fryers and other kitchen equipment
  • Work overtime if needed
  • Complete opening and closing checklists
  • Refer to daily prep list at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • Know and comply consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies
  • Stock and maintain sufficient food levels at line stations
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area
  • Handle, store, and rotate all products properly
  • Report equipment and food quality problems to Food Service Manager promptly
  • Inform the Food Service Manager immediately of product shortages
  • Close the kitchen properly and follow closing checklist
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Food Service Manager
  • Deliver and serve meals to various outreach locations
  • Take accurate breaks as scheduled
