Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years of relevant culinary experience
  • ability to work Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm shift
  • physical ability to lift 30 pounds repeatedly and stand for long periods
  • ability to perform repetitive tasks such as chopping and bending
  • must obtain or have Food Handler’s card
  • strong communication skills
  • punctuality and reliability
  • ability to work in a small, sometimes loud physical space
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work duties

Job Duties

  • Assist with food preparation and execution of menu items accurately and timely
  • execute garde-manger applications with supervision
  • set up and break down service including cleaning and dishwashing
  • demonstrate working knowledge of knife cuts such as julienne, dice, and mince
  • apply basic allergen knowledge to food labeling
  • ensure stations are properly set for service with adequate food and supplies
  • maintain a sense of urgency and work effectively under pressure
  • properly store food items with correct wrapping, labeling, and dating
  • follow prep lists or verbal instructions to complete daily tasks
  • communicate effectively to ensure accuracy and task completion
  • maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • assist in receiving and storing items
  • uphold a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • work at multiple locations on Reno and Verdi campuses
  • check quality standards of raw and cooked food products
