Job Requirements
- Must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking, and reaching
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift objects frequently including loads greater than 50 pounds
- Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls on slippery or moving surfaces
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps
- Must communicate clearly in the primary language of the restaurant
- Normal hearing (with or without correction)
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
Job Qualifications
- High school degree or GED preferred
- Culinary degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum six months to one year experience as a prep/line cook in a full service restaurant
- Knowledge of cooking techniques relevant to prep/line cook position
- Good reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Good judgment and decision making skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision and interact well with team members to accomplish work
Job Duties

- Understand and comply with all company policies, procedures, and operating standards
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
- Maintain energy, enthusiasm, passion, and pride throughout the shift
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and secure environment by cleaning and sanitizing work area before, during, and after shifts
- Use and maintain kitchen equipment, tools, and utensils safely and appropriately
- Return all kitchen equipment to appropriate storage when not in use
- Prioritize and complete all prep work, sidework, and station set up for efficiency
- Prepare and portion all items according to company standards, recipes, and specifications
- Adhere to ticket times and flow to ensure highest product quality
- Maintain accurate food knowledge including ingredients and allergens
- Follow cost control procedures including energy management
- Handle product properly according to safe food handling procedures
- Follow proper hand washing methods
- Keep food out of the danger zone and adhere to critical temperatures
- Assist with receiving, rotating, labeling, and storing product according to FIFO
- Avoid cross-contamination
- Use knives properly and wear cut gloves when appropriate
- Calibrate and use thermometers
- Read and follow all recipes
- Record waste accurately
- Provide excellent hospitality to customers
- Assist other line cooks by bringing products and equipment
- Learn other line positions to foster teamwork during high volume periods
- Help managers with receiving and storing orders
- Maintain clean, organized walk-ins and storage areas
- Complete all opening, ongoing, and closing sidework
- Notify manager of all customer complaints
- Remain calm at all times
- Perform other tasks assigned by a manager
