  • County of San Diego Food Handler Card
  • cooking experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen
  • working knowledge of cooking temperature guidelines
  • ability to safely use knives
  • ability to prepare menu items from recipes
  • ability to perform mathematical equations
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time
  • ability to bend and stoop
  • ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • ability to interact effectively with guests and team members
  • ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
  • ability to accept constructive criticism
  • ability to appear for work on time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • culinary degree is preferred
  • previous cooking experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen
  • working knowledge of cooking temperature guidelines
  • ability to prepare menu items from recipes
  • ability to safely use knives
  • ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
  • effective communication skills in English
  • ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • ability to accept constructive criticism
  • ability to work well with team members and guests

Job Duties

  • Provide kitchen with food products
  • maintain a safe and sanitary cooking area
  • maintain clean and orderly walk-in and storage areas
  • safely handle and prepare menu items from recipes
  • collaborate with kitchen team to meet daily operational needs
  • perform other duties as assigned to support department operations
