Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Manual dexterity to use kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously
  • Ability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
  • One or more years of experience cooking in a fast paced, cook to order kitchen preferred
  • One or more years of experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • Sauté and/or broiler experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to communicate effectively
  • Manual dexterity to use kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Enhance resident experience through exceptional food production
  • Control quality and quantity of food items at the station including meats, vegetables, potatoes, bread products, and desserts
  • Model The Sterling Touch® with professionalism, friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness, and timeliness
  • Adhere to Community standards, processes, procedures, practices, and philosophy under Executive Chef guidance
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in food preparation areas
  • Assist with inventory management and requisitions as needed
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service
