Job Requirements

  • a score of 90% or better on all Health Department inspections
  • a score of 90% or better on all mystery shopper reports
  • follow all dress code requirements including chef shirt, black pants or blue jeans, apron, Water Street hat, black non-skid shoes, no visible tattoos or piercings, beard guards if necessary
  • no cell phone use unless on break
  • comply with smoking policy
  • wear hair above collar length
  • must obtain and maintain a valid Nueces County Food Handler's Permit
  • able to perform physical tasks including slicing, dicing, chopping, peeling shrimp, shucking oysters, inventorying waste
  • able to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, deep fryers, grills and clean them
  • maintain cleanliness of prep stations and kitchen areas including floors
  • complete training tests with 90% accuracy
  • may be required to operate cash register and prepare bank deposits
  • able to work under varying temperature and noise conditions
  • maintain confidentiality of client and company information
  • comply with company policies and operational manuals
  • willingness to cover other areas or departments as needed
  • work as part of a team respecting coworkers' space and concentration

Job Qualifications

  • must be at least 16 years old
  • able to speak, understand, read and write in English
  • capable of standing and walking for 6 to 10 hours per day
  • able to lift and carry food items ranging from 40 to 75 pounds without assistance and up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • able to push, pull and maneuver equipment and food items weighing between 35 and 150 pounds
  • able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • must have corrected vision and hearing
  • capable of effective communication with coworkers and management
  • able to work flexible shifts as specified by management

Job Duties

  • bring food issues to kitchen manager attention to bring to weekly meetings
  • meet or exceed Water Street Way standards for cleanliness, product quality and guest satisfaction
  • provide quality prep by adhering to all recipe standards
  • assist in the training of all prep positions following the kitchen training manual
  • implement all systems and forms for prep stations
  • follow all pars designed for prep stations
  • obtain a valid Nueces County Food Handler's Permit at all times
