Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • ability to use knives, carry large pots, and operate ovens
  • ability to bend, reach, crawl, and twist the body as needed
  • capacity to lift heavy weights up to 50 pounds
  • endurance to stand on feet for long hours
  • ability to work in hot and cold temperatures near ovens and in freezers
  • willingness to wear protective clothing including slip-resistant shoes, gloves, hats or hair nets, aprons, and chef jackets or pants

Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency in knife skills for various cutting techniques
  • ability to read and follow recipes in English
  • weekend availability and ability to work a minimum of three shifts per week
  • ability to work effectively with a team and collaborate with kitchen staff
  • ability to follow safety protocols when moving and handling equipment
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to get along with others

Job Duties

  • Washing, chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food items
  • prepping soups, baking desserts, and making stocks and sauces
  • following recipes and prep lists to prepare ingredients for specific dishes and menu items
  • properly storing and labeling prepared ingredients with dates, names, and contents
  • maintaining a clean and organized kitchen area, equipment, and utensils
  • completing end-of-shift duties including sanitizing and organizing workstations
  • following food safety standards and handling procedures
  • assisting with basic cooking tasks such as preparing salads, sauces, or dressings
  • communicating effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow
  • ensuring accuracy in ingredient preparation and measurements
  • working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • observing and testing foods for appropriate cooking and quality assurance
