Job Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
- Capability to use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach as necessary
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
- Comfortable working in temperatures from freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to operate tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, and electric pallet jacks
- May require ladder use
- No prior retail experience required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of natural foods and passion for the mission of Whole Foods Market
- Ability to follow directions and procedures
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully
- Customer service experience is a plus but not required
Job Duties
- Assists with preparation for all Prepared Foods venues
- Ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- Ensures products meet Whole Foods Market quality and preparation guidelines
- Documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- Ensures product production follows correct measuring devices and recipes
- Educates customers on the differences between Whole Foods Market and conventional products
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in storage areas such as walk-ins and freezers
- Arrives on time, properly groomed and dressed for shifts
- Provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling techniques
- Maximizes sales potential through correct prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of products
- Complies with health and sanitation regulations
- Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties including ensuring sign and price accuracy
- Reports safety hazards and violations immediately
