Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food preparation or hospitality preferred but not required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Willingness to obtain ServeSafe Certification within six months
- Availability to work full-time including weekends nights holidays and special events
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to work in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
- Experience waiting tables in a hotel restaurant or club with fine dining preferred will train
- Ability to interpret and explain menu refer or answer questions coordinate meal service process and understand requests
- Ability to work in close cooperation with residents guests visitors families management and peers
Job Duties
- Arrive at the scheduled time ready and able to perform up to set performance standards
- Maintain professional appearance personal hygiene dress and demeanor according to Food and Beverage Department policies
- Treat and interact with fellow employees respectfully professionally and courteously
- Obtain necessary skills to physically prepare all items used in dish preparation
- Have complete knowledge of all products brought into the kitchen for meal preparation
- Determine condition and safety of perishable items and alert kitchen manager if items are not fresh or safe
- Have working knowledge of weights measurements equivalents and conversions related to food preparation
- Read and understand standard ingredient lists on products
- Read understand and follow standardized recipes
- Follow medical dietary instructions including food allergies and mechanically altered consistencies
- Assist in receiving and stocking orders dating items before storage
- Follow proper storage rules for cooked and raw products
- Understand State and Local food handling regulations and obtain ServeSafe Certification within six months
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area cleaning as you work and leaving it broom-clean and sanitized
- Advise kitchen manager of shortages spoilage or product condition issues and any work-related issues including personnel equipment utensils and environment
