Job Requirements

  • one year hospital patient access experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • one year hospital patient access experience
  • understanding of insurance plan rules and regulations
  • prior experience with online insurance verification

Job Duties

  • Performs accurate collection and documentation of demographic and insurance data for upcoming procedures
  • verifies insurance, calculates benefits, and obtains authorization, if necessary
  • explains coverage to the patient and notifies them of out-of-pocket expenses
  • collects patient out-of-pocket expenses over the phone
  • assists supervisors and trainers in mentoring new team members
  • maintains a positive working environment and high morale reflective of the hospital’s philosophy
  • serves as preceptors/trainers to orientee
  • serves as a mentor to new associates and assists in new employee orientation
  • performs other duties as assigned
