Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-6 months of related experience
  • previous experience working with medical insurance highly preferred
  • must have keyboarding and computer skills
  • ability to file accurately
  • professional communication and excellent customer service skills
  • ability to perform light clerical duties
  • previous computer experience including hospital-based programs such as Medic, Misys, or Tiger preferred
  • proficient in organizing, alphabetizing, filing and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • excellent math skills
  • ability to use basic office equipment
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information
  • excellent verbal and communication skills
  • ability to maintain positive customer service
  • ability to establish effective working relations within a team
  • must maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • ability to perform work involving mental and visual fatigue
  • ability to perform physical demands such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and light lifting
  • must register patients/customers and confirm demographic and insurance information
  • complete required fields in practice management system
  • determine patient co-payments and collect payments
  • enter charges/payments into MISYS/Tiger or other system
  • prepare encounter forms using correct ICD-9 and CPT codes
  • schedule and coordinate patient appointments, tests, and referrals
  • answer telephones and provide information per service standards
  • maintain patient medical records
  • obtain patient authorization for transfer of health information
  • maintain patient confidentiality
  • perform basic office duties
  • compose and proofread letters and reports
  • maintain a clean work environment
  • communicate equipment problems
  • maintain accountability for special projects
  • perform management-assigned duties
  • establish effective internal working relationships
  • engage in continuous study and training
  • ensure accurate and timely documentation
  • treat patients and staff with kindness and respect

Job Qualifications
