Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • moderate physical effort moving furniture and using cleaning equipment
  • no prior experience required
  • ability to work a full-time schedule of 35 plus hours
  • ability to obtain food handling certification as applicable
  • may require valid state driver’s license
  • willingness to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months
  • ability to communicate effectively and maintain guest privacy and security

Job Duties

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas
  • operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner carpet cleaner waxer and polisher
  • empties wastebaskets dusts waxes and polishes room furniture
  • washes walls partitions air vents disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls lavatories
  • washes and replaces window treatments and cleans ceiling fixtures
  • changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds
  • moves furniture to clean under and behind uses step stool to clean window and window treatments cabinet tops mirrors and picture frames
  • cleans bathroom and kitchen areas including appliances and floors
  • cleans iron ironing board luggage racks and ensures proper hangers
  • ensures TVs alarm clocks and phones are clean and functional
  • places proper number of amenities in room including consumables and non-consumables
  • removes and replaces bed linen inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas
  • moves and repositions beds upon guest checkout or request
  • greets and welcomes guests maintaining outstanding guest relations
  • ensures privacy and security of guests
  • cleans vacuums mops corridors stairways patios and balconies
  • shampoos rugs carpets polishes rails and performs scheduled carpet cleaning
  • performs deep cleaning as required including defrosting refrigerators and cleaning windows
  • maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms
  • communicates status of cleaned rooms to supervisor
  • accomplishes minor repairs and reports major repairs
  • cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots
  • assists with receipt and storage of supplies and merchandise
  • manages keys securely and returns keys at the end of shift
  • reports unusual circumstances to supervisor
  • manages lost and found items
  • sets up and cleans up complimentary breakfast bar and obtains food handling certifications
  • completes safety security training
  • maintains a clean and safe environment with knowledge of safety protocols
  • performs laundry operations
  • may travel to other lodging facilities within duties
  • obtains NHG housekeeping certification within six months
