Job Requirements

  • One year of administrative, professional, investigative or similar responsible work experience
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
  • two years of specialized responsible experience in hospitality operations or guest services
  • knowledge of property management system software
  • experience in cash handling
  • basic math and reading skills
  • completion of one year of academic study in hospitality can substitute for six months of general experience

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience in administrative, professional, investigative or other responsible work which enabled applicant to gain a general knowledge of business practices and administrative processes
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with proficient English
  • specialized knowledge of front of house hospitality operations or similar guest services environment
  • knowledge of property management systems and related software
  • basic math and reading skills
  • experience handling large amounts of cash
  • supervisory or professional work experience for two years
  • ability to exercise mature judgment and skill in person-to-person work relationships

Job Duties

  • Manages front desk operations and reservations including cashiering reservations and room assignments to maximize occupancy
  • plans and schedules ongoing production oriented work for all front desk personnel on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis adjusting staff levels as required to meet workload demand
  • participates in hiring front desk associates, evaluates and counsels staff, completes performance evaluations, approves leave requests and recommends performance awards
  • trains, instructs and supervises associates assigned to the front desk both in formal training settings and on-the-job
  • ensures the front desk operates in accordance with established instructions and procedures, performs all front desk related duties as required
  • demonstrates a welcoming manner and positive attitude, effectively communicates, professionally interacts with guests, answers guest questions concerning hotel facilities and local attractions, provides assistance in handling customer complaints involving management as necessary
  • resolves administrative problems and routine operational issues related to front desk operations, provides recommended solutions and drafts procedures for review and implementation to higher management
  • utilizes the Property Management System (PMS) to access guest and reservation information, manages guest registration and credit card authorization
  • acts as the resident expert regarding the PMS key card system and CORE inventory management system
  • reconciles room status with housekeeping reports and coordinates with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready for occupancy
  • reviews reports from the Night Audit concerning occupancy, vacancy, and accounting systems to ensure accountability of personnel and revenue
  • oversees the front desk change fund and coordinates quarterly cash audits
  • manages accountability of all keys and front desk inventory, maintains cleanliness of front desk and lobby area
  • ensures security measures and guest privacy are maintained at all times
