Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year dishwasher experience preferred
  • food handlers card (FH) - VA state - ANSI-approved food handlers certificate program within 30 days required or food protection manager - VA state - ANSI approved food protection manager certification required

Job Duties

  • work with team members to ensure efficient supply use and storage to meet facility and budget standards
  • ensure all cleaning supplies are properly labeled and stored in the appropriate storage location
  • properly utilize warewashing and cleaning equipment
  • handle china, glass, and silverware with care to minimize loss, damage, or breakage
  • remove damaged service ware from service and alert management before discarding
  • practice safe work habits when handling all equipment
  • remove kitchen trash periodically, maintain clean trash cans with lids and liners, and maintain sanitary conditions at exterior trash bins and loading dock areas
  • sweep and clean floors throughout the shift and thoroughly at the end of each shift using wet floor signs during cleaning
  • use cleaning chemicals and supplies properly, ensuring dispensers work correctly and reporting discrepancies
  • document dish machine and pot wash temperatures and sanitizing solution logs accurately
  • follow proper set-up, cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance of Food and Nutrition Service work areas, equipment and smallwares
  • complete assigned cleaning tasks as noted in job workflows and assignment sheets prior to end of shift
  • alert supervisor or manager when unable to complete tasks
  • support team effort in task completion
