Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18, maximum age 70
  • Ability to commit to a 2-3 month service term
  • Willingness to undergo training and participate fully in program activities
  • Ability to attend school or work during off service hours
  • Car recommended due to travel needs
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations
  • Eligibility to receive a living allowance and education award based on service completion

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children in educational or social service settings preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Commitment to community service and early childhood education
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is an asset

Job Duties

  • Serve in a 2-3 month educational term offering training and a living allowance
  • Implement literacy enrichment activities for children birth to age four in early childhood centers
  • Partner with classroom teachers to set and achieve academic goals
  • Conduct community outreach to enroll children in Books from Birth and maintain enrollment data
  • Provide vision screenings using the Spot Vision Screener at Early Head Start, Head Start, Pre-K, and Preschool sites
  • Engage with families in high-poverty areas to promote early literacy and book access
  • Support early learning and school readiness through direct service and community involvement
