Job Requirements
- High school graduate and/or GED equivalent
- some familiarity with custodial and cleaning methods
- ability to read and write sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
- ability to learn the methods, practices, techniques, and procedures peculiar to the position
- ability to understand and follow oral instructions
- ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and others
- ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not endanger the safety of oneself, other persons, and equipment
- sufficient strength to perform moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, and routine custodial tasks

Job Duties
- Cleans a variety of assigned areas such as food preparation and service areas, restrooms, equipment, and furniture and furnishings
- stores, stocks, inventories, and delivers supplies and equipment including foodstuffs, prescriptions, and linens to their appropriate destinations
- operates various equipment and machinery including autoclaves, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and office equipment
- makes minor repairs
- runs errands such as picking up and delivering forms, lists, and reports
- transports soiled and clean linen to and from the laundry area, sorts and weighs linens, loads and unloads washers and dryers, keeps daily records of laundry functions
- moves a variety of items such as furniture, furnishings, and trash containers
- demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand and react competently to the unique needs of patient age groups served
