Job Requirements
- high school graduate or GED equivalent
- some familiarity with custodial and cleaning methods
- ability to read and write sufficiently to perform job duties
- ability to learn the methods, practices, techniques, and procedures peculiar to the position
- ability to understand and follow oral instructions
- ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and others
- ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not endanger the safety of oneself, other persons, and equipment
- sufficient strength to perform moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, and routine custodial tasks

Job Duties
- cleaning assigned work areas such as food preparation and service areas, restrooms, equipment, and furniture
- storing, stocking, and delivering supplies and equipment including foodstuffs, prescriptions, and linens
- operating equipment and machinery including autoclaves, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and office equipment
- running errands such as picking up and delivering forms, lists, and reports
- transporting soiled and clean linen to and from laundry areas, sorting and weighing linens, loading and unloading washers and dryers, and keeping daily records of laundry functions
- moving various items such as furniture, furnishings, and trash containers
- demonstrating effective judgment and ability to understand and respond to the unique needs of patient age groups served
