Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of custodial or janitorial experience
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Physical capability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing and squatting
- Ability to operate small power tools
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to work independently and in stressful environments
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services preferred
- Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes on flooring materials
- Understanding of cleaning techniques and compounds
- Experience with cleaning and sanitizing washrooms
- Ability to follow safety rules and work habits
- Ability to read, understand and follow units of measure on product labels
- Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene
- Ability to maintain janitorial equipment and supply areas clean and organized
Job Duties
- Performs all general required tasks as directed by Lead Custodian or Supervisor
- Uses floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming and carpet cleaning safely according to proper usage and schedule
- Performs all tasks within proper safety guidelines, company guidelines, and directions from management
- Follows all company policies regarding safety, customer service, attire, and timekeeping
- Performs janitorial and custodial tasks based on defined scope of work and customer requests including emptying wastebaskets, dusting furniture, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, spot cleaning walls and surfaces
- Wears uniform at required worksites
- Attends periodic training and safety meetings
