Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum two years experience in building cleaning preferred
  • ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • ability to manage cleaning and maintenance supplies
  • ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within six months of employment
  • knowledge of NYC Building Codes and City Regulations
  • basic computer skills
  • ability to work effectively both independently and with others
  • effective communication skills
  • physical ability to perform cleaning and maintenance duties

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of routine power tools and cleaning equipment
  • working knowledge of NYC Building Codes and City Regulations
  • basic computer skills including internet search and Microsoft Office

Job Duties

  • Sweep and mop all floors, offices, hallways, lounge, laundry room, community kitchen, and staircases on a daily basis
  • dust, sweep and mop all bathrooms, clean sinks and toilets, ensure an adequate supply of paper products in bathrooms
  • dust furniture and all windowsills in common areas and staff areas
  • clean compactor, prepare and take out garbage three times weekly, maintain compactor and compactor room in clean and working order
  • clean laundry machines and dryers
  • maintain outside of facility by sweeping and hosing down front end of building and yard, shovel and clean snow from premises as necessary, maintain safe entrance
  • perform minor repairs and touch-ups such as hanging pictures, painting, light bulb replacement, faucet repair, stripping floors and re-waxing
  • assist with cleaning resident apartments including sweeping and mopping, wiping down counters and appliances, scrubbing toilets and showers, removing garbage
  • assist with preparation for extermination services including bed bug treatment
  • clean and prepare vacant apartments for occupancy
  • escort outside maintenance vendors
  • report any damage or incidents to Program Director
  • receive, stock, and maintain inventory of residence supplies, distribute provisional supplies to residents as needed
  • prepare and submit maintenance supply requisitions to Program Director
  • meet with Program Director weekly for supervision
  • maintain cordial, professional relationship with residents
  • handle confidential information according to federal and New York State laws
  • adhere to personnel and residential policies and procedures
  • perform other duties as directed by Program Director
