Job Requirements
- Six months (1040 hours) verifiable paid full-time custodial or janitorial experience at a commercial building, non-profit agency, or commercial facility
- Or verification of completed or current enrollment in a custodial training course equivalent to City College of San Francisco Custodial Training program
- Applicants must meet minimum qualification by final filing date
- Clear demonstration in application of how minimum qualifications are met
- Submission of verification of qualifying education and experience if requested
- Understanding of examination and selection procedures
- Willingness to participate in a multiple-choice examination
- Full-time availability
Job Qualifications
- Six months verifiable full-time custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or institutional setting
- Completion or current enrollment in custodial training equivalent to City College of San Francisco Custodial Training program
- Ability to perform routine manual tasks
- Knowledge of cleaning tools and equipment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks like lifting and moving equipment
- Willingness to work full-time

Job Duties
- Sweeps and wet-mops floors in halls, wards, laboratories, treatment rooms, stairways, and other areas
- Scrubs and waxes floors using electric scrubbing and buffing equipment
- Empties waste baskets and disposes of wet garbage appropriately
- Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures and replenishes supplies such as paper towels and soap
- Dusts and cleans furniture, equipment, walls, and woodwork throughout the institution
- Gathers soiled linen and loads into laundry chute, sterilizes mattresses, pillows, and bed linens
- Transports food and utensils using a food cart between kitchen and wards
- Moves furniture, equipment and assembles furniture and equipment as needed
- Performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms including dusting, cleaning floors, walls, bathrooms, furniture and changing beds
- Occasionally checks and stores supplies such as linen and office materials
- Occasionally cleans window glass and electrical fixtures from ladders or scaffolds
- May perform duties of Porter Assistant Supervisor as directed
- Performs other duties as assigned
