Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years experience in building cleaning
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and power tools
  • Working knowledge of NYC Building Codes and City Regulations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months
  • Ability to perform minor repairs
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with residents and staff
  • Ability to manage time effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of routine power tools and cleaning equipment
  • Working knowledge of NYC Building Codes and City Regulations
  • Basic computer skills including internet search and Microsoft Office
  • CPR/First Aid certification (must obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to interact with staff and residents
  • Excellent cleaning skills
  • Minor maintenance and repair skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred or minimum two years’ experience in building cleaning with general building maintenance skills desirable

Job Duties

  • Sweeps and mops floors, offices, hallways, lounges, laundry room, community kitchen, and staircases daily
  • Dusts, sweeps, and mops all bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, ensures adequate supply of paper products
  • Dusts furniture and windowsills in common and staff areas
  • Cleans compactor, takes out garbage thrice weekly, maintains compactor and compactor room
  • Cleans laundry machines and dryers
  • Maintains facility exterior by sweeping and hosing down front and yard, shovels/cleans snow, ensures safe entrance
  • Performs minor repairs such as hanging pictures, painting, light bulb replacement, faucet repair, floor stripping and waxing
  • Assists cleaning resident apartments, including sweeping, mopping, wiping counters and appliances, scrubbing toilets and showers, and rubbish removal
  • Prepares apartments for extermination services, including bed bug treatment preparation
  • Cleans and prepares vacant apartments for occupancy
  • Escorts outside maintenance vendors
  • Reports damage or incidents to Program Director
  • Manages inventory of supplies and distributes as needed
  • Submits maintenance supply requisitions
  • Meets weekly with Program Director for supervision
  • Maintains professional relationship with residents
  • Handles confidential information
  • Adheres to personnel and residential policies
  • Performs additional duties as directed by Program Director
