Job Requirements

  • legally authorized to work in the United States
  • pass a satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment verification
  • possess or obtain a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
  • meet all required certifications and licenses for the duration of employment
  • ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • provide necessary documents for military service interview preference if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or similar discipline with 10 years of relevant experience including 2 years in management
  • or master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or similar discipline with 8 years of relevant experience including 2 years in management
  • experience in maritime cargo operations
  • experience in logistics support
  • experience in contracting
  • experience in transportation
  • proven management capability

Job Duties

  • oversee the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the Port of Alaska
  • ensure compliance with Title XI of the Municipal Code
  • maximize the use and productivity of port facilities and land
  • manage budgets and maintain cost-effectiveness
  • take operational and administrative direction from the Municipal Manager
  • follow policy direction from the Mayor
  • perform other duties as assigned
