Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or similar discipline
  • Ten years of experience in Maritime Cargo Operations, logistics support, contracting, and/or transportation
  • Two years in a management capacity
  • Or Master's degree with eight years of relevant experience
  • Must pass a satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire
  • Legal authorization to work and accept employment in the United States without sponsorship
  • Commitment to providing accurate and complete education and work history information

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or similar discipline
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Ten years of experience in Maritime Cargo Operations, logistics support, contracting, and/or transportation
  • At least two years in a management capacity
  • Strong leadership and operational management skills
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and port operations
  • Experience in budget management and stakeholder engagement

Job Duties

  • Oversee the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the Port of Alaska
  • Ensure compliance with Title XI of the Municipal Code
  • Maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness within budgetary constraints
  • Manage port facilities and land for highest and best use
  • Provide operational and administrative direction under the Municipal Manager and Mayor
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote port services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
