Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Minimum 980 hours of lifeguard experience or equivalent
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with required additional trainings
- Possession of Lifeguard Instructor and Management Certifications
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to pass background check and fingerprinting
- Must have a negative TB test within the last two years
- Physical ability to perform rescues and swim
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work varied hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years old
- At least 980 hours of experience as a certified lifeguard or equivalent aquatics experience
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification including first aid, emergency oxygen, anaphylaxis, blood borne pathogens, and asthma inhaler training
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certification
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to conduct oneself professionally
- Strong leadership and staff management skills
- Knowledge of municipal aquatics program objectives and safety standards
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow written and oral instructions
Job Duties
- Plan, lead, assign, and participate in the work of aquatic staff including lifeguards and swim instructors
- Supervise daily operation of aquatics programs and facilities
- Assist in training, staff development, scheduling, and evaluating aquatic staff
- Monitor pool area, decks, and water activities to ensure patron safety
- Enforce aquatics rules, policies, and regulations
- Conduct routine administrative tasks including registration and cash handling
- Perform rescues and administer first aid, CPR, and AED as necessary
