Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food and beverage service preferred
  • proficiency in English
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all Grand Beach Hotel departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
  • be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • maintain complete knowledge of lounge/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and proper table set-up of the Pool & Beach
  • know all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the Pool & Beach menu
  • understand the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
  • maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients and quality standards, taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, garnish and method of presentation
  • be proficient with P.O.S. and manual systems
  • maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations
  • complete opening side duties as assigned including stock and supplies check, napkin folding, requisition and transport of supplies, table setting, and preparation of condiments and beverages
  • ensure sufficient supply of silverware, glassware and chinaware
  • check cleanliness and condition of assigned stations and rectify deficiencies
  • set-up side stations with supplies and equipment
  • organize stations ensuring readiness prior to guest arrival
  • review reserved tables and special arrangements
  • keep track of daily specials and items unavailable during shift
  • take guest food and beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques
  • record and input orders into system ensuring kitchen verification
  • document orders manually if system is down
  • retrieve and serve beverages from the bar
  • open and serve wine/champagne bottles
  • make all varieties of coffee
  • serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverages
  • guide activities of the assigned bus person for optimum service
  • clear courses and remove soiled wares
  • present guest checks and process payments while adhering to payment and cash handling policies
  • thank guests and invite them to return
  • clean and reset tables immediately after guest departure
  • complete closing side duties including breakdown and storage of reusable goods, cleaning equipment, restocking, removing dirty linens, stocking condiments, and completing closing reports for management.
