Job Description
The City of Brawley seeks a dedicated Police Youth Program Coordinator to join the Brawley Police Department in a full-time capacity. This vital role centers on coordinating, implementing, and expanding multiple youth engagement initiatives designed to foster positive relationships between young community members and law enforcement. The department's youth programs include diverse offerings such as the MLS GO Soccer Program, Esports Academy, Brawley Police Football Club, Explorers, and the highly regarded Brawley Police Boxing Academy. Job Requirements
- Associate's degree required in recreation education youth development criminal justice or related field preferred
- Minimum of two years experience coordinating youth programs managing sports leagues or recreational initiatives
- Must pass a background investigation Live Scan and drug screening
- Must possess a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends during program activities and community events
- CPR and First Aid certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree preferred in recreation education youth development criminal justice or related field
- Minimum of two years experience coordinating youth programs managing sports leagues or recreational initiatives
- Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Bilingual English Spanish highly desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and communication scheduling platforms
- Knowledge of youth development strategies recreational programming and mentorship practices
- Strong event planning promotional and organizational skills
- Ability to lead teams build partnerships and connect effectively with youth and families
Job Duties
- Coordinate and oversee all Brawley Police Department youth programs including seasonal leagues training sessions clinics and special events
- Plan and execute program logistics including scheduling participant registration equipment management and facility use
- Promote programs and organize community events competitions exhibitions and outreach campaigns to boost youth participation and public engagement
- Recruit train supervise and support part-time program staff city employees and volunteer coaches
- Coordinate with the Parks and Recreation Manager staff and local school district representatives for scheduling facilities and collaborative efforts
- Serve as a coach or mentor as needed to support program success and build relationships with youth
- Foster a safe inclusive and empowering environment for youth participants of diverse backgrounds
- Maintain accurate records of attendance inventory budgets and program impact
- Prepare and submit reports to Police Department leadership and partner agencies after each program cycle or event
- Assist in the preparation of grants budget proposals and presentations to city leadership and community stakeholders
- Represent the Police Department at school functions youth outreach events and other community initiatives
- Perform related duties as assigned
