Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 20 years
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid and insurable driver's license
  • Possession of APOSTC certification
  • Firearm, NCIC, Draeger, Taser, First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours, rotating shifts and emergency call-backs
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and initial drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • Possess Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Firearm, NCIC, Draeger, Taser, First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours and rotating shifts
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Perform patrol duties within assigned area
  • Respond to and investigate complaints
  • Provide security for court and special events
  • Issue traffic citations and conduct traffic control
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports
  • Maintain and inspect equipment and uniforms
  • Engage in community relations and public safety activities
