Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • males must be registered for Selective Service
  • must pass initial pre-employment medical examination and periodic medical examinations
  • must pass initial and annual physical fitness and physical agility tests including running
  • must meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth
  • must obtain and maintain required security clearance
  • must wear the DAF Police Officer uniform and meet dress and appearance standards
  • must work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall
  • must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor, ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests, and chemical protective equipment
  • must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment
  • subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard
  • must pass formal law enforcement training school and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06 or equivalent
  • knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations
  • knowledge of law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques
  • knowledge of special operating requirements and security access controls
  • knowledge of use of force and self-defense techniques
  • ability to operate motor vehicles with a gross weight of 7,000 pounds or less
  • ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies
  • successful completion of formal law enforcement training school and DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification

Job Duties

  • Performs the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions
  • conducts investigations and surveillance
  • performs as Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) Controller
  • performs emergency response and incident command and control
  • maintains law and order
  • protects life and civil rights
  • arrests or apprehends violators
