Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of professional kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • Flexibility to work PM shifts and additional hours as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Available to start between mid-February and early March

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen with solid knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards
  • Proficiency in preparing a wide range of dishes using kitchen tools and appliances like grills, fryers, slicers, and ovens
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality, well-prepared, and attractively presented dishes
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently during busy periods ensuring timely preparation and quality
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry heavy items, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Willingness to work PM shifts starting between 2:30pm and 4pm, with flexibility for overtime, holidays, and weekend shifts

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold food items including salads, desserts, cold appetizers, grilled ingredients, croutons, and cooked vegetables
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as grills, deep fryers, ovens, electric slicers, and standard utensils following safety protocols
  • Retrieve, organize, and store ingredients in refrigerators, freezers, and pantry areas, rotate stock, label items with expiration dates, and ensure freshness
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment including food preparation areas, storage spaces, and kitchen equipment complying with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation, assist in plating and garnishing dishes, and contribute to smooth kitchen operations during peak service times
  • Assemble and present dishes attractively meeting Prairie Kitchen and Bar quality and visual standards
