Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent or higher
  • minimum of 2 years' experience in a restaurant
  • excellent customer service skills
  • excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Job Duties

  • assist the chef de cuisine and supervisors with recipes for each day
  • understand and prepare dishes according to restaurant recipes consistently
  • maintain a clean kitchen environment including equipment, floors, walls, coolers, and freezers
  • participate in dishwashing and return pots and pans for cleaning
  • maintain professional appearance and personal grooming
  • communicate effectively with kitchen team daily
  • follow safety and sanitary compliance standards
  • perform basic vegetable preparation including peeling, slicing, dicing, and portioning
  • prepare basic sauces such as stocks, salad dressings, and vinaigrettes
  • perform short order cooking under supervision
  • plate dishes according to chef specifications
  • understand kitchen orders and work efficiently
  • perform all kitchen functions under pressure
  • work long hours standing by hot flat tops, stoves, and fryers
  • collaborate as a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • apply knowledge of cooking recipes and kitchen equipment
  • prepare great quality comfort food
  • follow safety procedures including knife safety
  • restock clean dishes, flatware, and cooking equipment
  • maintain kitchen work area orderly and clean
  • follow proper hand washing procedures
  • stock supplies in designated locations
  • manage trash removal and cleaning
  • assist with loading and unloading food deliveries and supplies
  • perform other management-assigned duties to service guests
