Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of employment in a related kitchen position
  • knowledge of cooking practices and procedures
  • ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work
  • physical ability to lift weights up to 70 lbs
  • capability to perform repetitive bending and climbing
  • ability to stand continuously for long periods
  • ability to hear equipment timers and communicate effectively
  • ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • ability to work in varying temperatures including cold freezers and hot kitchen areas

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Check all items against the recipe cards
  • verify that use records are followed for all items served
  • ensure food is presented efficiently and with quality
  • monitor the line setup prior to meal functions
  • oversee equipment maintenance and kitchen cleanliness
  • prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and standards
  • start ahead food items without excess preparation
  • date and rotate food containers as per standard operating procedures
  • check par levels for shift use and arrange preparation accordingly
  • note out-of-stock items or shortages
  • assist in buffet stocking
  • return unused food to storage with proper coverage and dating
  • help set up plans to correct food cost issues and control food waste
